About OPMOD Oil
This animation of 1995 shows the evolution of an oil spill due to a (fictive) tanker accident in the coastal zone of the Yellow Sea near Gunsan, S. Korea. Note the wadden areas cyclically falling dry and being flooded in the course of the standard tidal forcing used in this demo case. The numerical model for the surface currents is based on the PhD thesis (1989) of Kurt Duwe, today associated with (and founding member of) our partner Hydromd GbR.
The numerical 2D graphic animation code was developed together with Klaus Pfeiffer in Wedel (www.hydromod.de) and Barnabas Szilagyi in New York.
